Celtic Music Society is a unique program created to teach the traditional music of Ireland and other Celtic regions to American school musicians. Celtic Music Society provides an authentic experience in Irish music, and a typical meeting won’t look much different from a traditional Irish music session. When first beginning on a traditional instrument, students are introduced to the style and traditions of Irish music. As they master the style and learn more of the traditions, they can collectively become a self-sustaining musical community. Celtic Music Society is different from fiddle and other programs, as it  focuses on musical culture and authenticity in style and performance. While performing is an important part of Celtic Music Society, the focus in this program—as in folk music traditions—is on the process and experience of making music together rather than the preparation for performance.
